HVPNL Executive Engineer Arrested in Faridabad for Allegedly Accepting ₹30,000 Bribe

The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has arrested an Executive Engineer (XEN) of the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) in Faridabad after he was allegedly caught accepting a bribe of ₹30,000. The action is part of the bureau’s ongoing efforts to crack down on corruption in public offices across the state.

According to the bureau, the accused, identified as Deepak Garg, was posted at the HVPNL TS Division in Sector 23, Faridabad. He allegedly demanded the bribe from a complainant in exchange for clearing pending bill payments. Following the complaint, the anti-corruption agency conducted a verification before launching a planned trap operation.

Officials said the trap was executed after the complaint was found to be credible. During the operation, the accused was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the ₹30,000 from the complainant.

Following the arrest, the SV&ACB registered FIR No. 18 dated July 28, 2026, at its Faridabad police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The bureau said further investigation is underway to establish the full facts of the case.

The agency also stated that the trap proceedings were conducted in accordance with the provisions of Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

Reiterating its appeal to the public, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau urged citizens to report any instance where a government official or employee demands a bribe in exchange for performing official duties. It assured that the identity of complainants is kept strictly confidential while appropriate legal action is taken against those found involved in corrupt practices.
