By The Haryana government has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to modernise the state’s public education system, with plans to establish 150 new government schools built to international standards and comprehensively upgrade 719 existing excellence schools. The initiative, officials say, reflects Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s vision of ensuring that every child has access to quality education regardless of their financial or social background.
Highlighting the government’s education agenda, Chief Minister’s Press Secretary Praveen Atreya said the latest decisions are aimed at transforming government schools into modern, technology-driven learning centres capable of preparing students for future opportunities. He described the initiative as a long-term investment in the state’s human capital and educational infrastructure.
According to Atreya, the key decisions were taken during a high-level review meeting of the School Education Department chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The meeting focused on improving infrastructure, integrating technology into classrooms, and strengthening the overall quality of government education across Haryana.
He said the proposed 150 new schools will be designed after studying successful education models adopted by leading Indian states and reputed academic institutions. The objective is to create learning environments that match national and global standards while offering students access to world-class educational facilities within the public school system.
Alongside the new schools, the government has approved extensive modernisation of 719 excellence schools across the state. The planned upgrades include new academic blocks, additional classrooms, smart classrooms, digital learning spaces, science and computer laboratories, libraries, improved furniture, playgrounds, boundary walls, separate sanitation facilities, clean drinking water systems, and other essential infrastructure.
The Chief Minister has also directed officials to complete the projects within fixed timelines and ensure that financial constraints do not delay implementation. The government has stressed that infrastructure development must move alongside improvements in teaching quality.
Atreya said the education reforms will also place strong emphasis on future-ready learning. Government schools are expected to gradually introduce artificial intelligence-based learning tools, digital education platforms, vocational training, and advanced technological resources to help students develop skills relevant to emerging industries and global job markets.
Teacher development will remain another key focus of the reform programme. Outstanding educators will be recognised and encouraged, while schools will also be expected to maintain higher standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and campus maintenance to provide a healthier learning environment for students.
The Haryana government believes that these reforms will strengthen the state’s position as one of India’s leading education hubs. Officials say the combination of modern infrastructure, skilled teachers, and technology-enabled classrooms is expected to significantly improve learning outcomes and create a stronger foundation for future generations.
