Turning Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ slogan against him, Shah alleged that the Congress leader was spreading hatred rather than promoting harmony. He also mocked Gandhi’s mock Parliament initiative, saying he could continue playing the role of Prime Minister there but would not achieve that position at the national level.
Shah Mocks Rahul Gandhi’s Prime Ministerial Ambition
Referring to Gandhi’s ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ slogan, Shah said, “Rahul ji, you will find nothing but hatred in your shop of love.” The remark was aimed at questioning the Congress leader’s political messaging and approach towards the ruling party.
Shah also took a dig at Gandhi’s mock Parliament exercise, portraying it as an attempt to advance his Prime Ministerial ambitions.
“Rahul Gandhi wants to become Prime Minister, and that is why he has found a new way by organising a mock Parliament. Rahul ji, you can continue to remain Prime Minister in your mock Parliament. Your dream of becoming the Prime Minister of the country, however, will not be fulfilled,” Shah said.
Home Minister Predicts More Electoral Setbacks for Congress
The Home Minister also targeted the Congress over its performance in Delhi, pointing out that the party had failed to win a single seat in the last three Delhi Assembly elections.
Shah predicted that the Congress would remain without representation in the next three Assembly elections as well and urged its leaders to prepare for another spell in the Opposition.
He also referred to reports of Delhi traders appealing to the Congress not to hold a rally during the festive season.
BJP Sharpens Its Focus on Punjab Ahead of 2027 Elections
Shah’s remarks come as the BJP steps up preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. The party is looking to strengthen its position in the state and has indicated that it wants to seek a mandate to form a government on its own rather than remain a junior partner in an alliance.
The drug menace has emerged as a major theme in the BJP’s proposed campaign. Shah has promised to work towards making Punjab, along with the rest of the country, drug-free by December 31, 2029.
The political contest is already beginning to take shape, with the Aam Aadmi Party having announced its first list of 40 candidates. Shah’s Chandigarh address signals that the BJP intends to challenge both the Congress and AAP on issues including leadership, governance, drug abuse and national politics.
With the 2027 polls approaching, Punjab is likely to see an increasingly active political campaign as parties work to strengthen their organisations and define their election agendas.
