By Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai and discussed strengthening cooperation between the two states, including a joint project to commemorate the bravery and sacrifices associated with the Third Battle of Panipat. The proposed memorial at Kala Amb in Haryana is planned across nearly 16 acres and is being developed with the participation of both state governments.
The meeting also highlighted the deep historical connection between Haryana and Maharashtra. While the battle was fought on Haryana’s soil in 1761, the conflict holds a significant place in Maharashtra’s history because of the large number of Maratha soldiers who lost their lives in the battle. The proposed memorial is intended to preserve that shared legacy and introduce younger generations to the history of the conflict.
Memorial to highlight history and sacrifice
The Third Battle of Panipat is one of the major turning points in Indian history. The proposed memorial at Kala Amb is expected to become a dedicated space showcasing the courage, struggle and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought in the 1761 battle.
