By Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday appealed to Members of Parliament to ensure that the Monsoon Session is marked by informed discussions, constructive debate and a shared commitment to national development. Addressing the media before the session began, he stressed that Parliament should serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue that reflects the aspirations of the people.
The Prime Minister also highlighted several achievements recorded by the country in recent weeks, saying India has strengthened its global standing through progress in space technology, manufacturing, infrastructure and innovation. He urged lawmakers to focus on these developments while participating in discussions during the session.
Referring to India’s growing space capabilities, Mr. Modi praised the young team behind private aerospace company Skyroot Aerospace, noting that the average age of its members is around 28 years. He remarked that the country’s youth are demonstrating remarkable innovation and are taking India’s achievements to new heights on the global stage.
His comments came after Skyroot’s Vikram-1 rocket successfully launched from ISRO’s First Launch Pad at Sriharikota on July 18, placing its payloads into orbit. The mission marked another milestone for India’s private space sector and positioned the country among a select group of nations whose private industry has independently demonstrated orbital launch capability.
The Prime Minister said India’s recent achievements extend beyond the space sector. He cited the dedication of a major oil refinery in Rajasthan, the commissioning of the country’s third semiconductor manufacturing facility and the launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered train as examples of the country’s expanding technological and industrial capabilities.
He credited scientists, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs and workers for driving these accomplishments, saying their contributions are helping accelerate India’s growth across multiple sectors.
Speaking on the economy, Mr. Modi said India continues to remain the world’s fastest-growing major economy, recording a GDP growth rate of 7.7 per cent despite global challenges, including supply disruptions caused by conflicts in West Asia.
Emphasising the importance of healthy parliamentary functioning, the Prime Minister said discussions inside Parliament should be guided by facts, reason and mutual respect. Every viewpoint, he said, deserves to be heard in a democratic system.
Mr. Modi concluded by calling upon members across party lines to work together during the Monsoon Session. He said Parliament has a crucial role in supporting India’s development journey through constructive debate, responsible policymaking and cooperation that serves the nation’s long-term interests.
