By Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said the state government is set to provide appointment letters to one lakh young people over the next six months, as the recruitment process for several government posts moves forward. He said more than 9.3 lakh youths have already secured government jobs since 2017 through what he described as a transparent and merit-based recruitment system.
Speaking at an event at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, Adityanath said the government had made recruitment reforms a key part of its employment agenda. He said the results for several ongoing recruitment processes are being prepared and that appointment letters for the next batch of one lakh candidates would be issued within the coming six months.
Appointment letters handed to over 3,500 candidates
During the programme, the Chief Minister handed over appointment letters to 3,446 newly selected Technical Assistants (Group-C) and 126 Mandi Secretaries in the Agriculture Department.
The appointments have been made through the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) under the state’s Mission Rozgar programme.
Adityanath told the newly selected candidates that their appointment also brought a responsibility to serve the state honestly and contribute to its development.
He said transparent recruitment should be matched by transparent and dedicated public service, describing honest performance of official duties as part of the government’s “Nation First” approach.
CM asks recruitment bodies to speed up selection
Adityanath also directed recruitment commissions and boards to reduce the time taken to complete selection procedures. He said recruitment bodies have been given operational autonomy and should use it to deliver results faster.
He suggested that advertisements for vacancies should be issued within a month of receiving requisitions, examinations should follow within the next two months and results should not take more than six months after the recruitment requirement is received.
The Chief Minister said faster recruitment would allow young people to move ahead with their careers instead of spending years waiting for examination results.
Yogi targets previous SP government
Highlighting his government’s recruitment record, Adityanath contrasted it with the previous Samajwadi Party administration. He alleged that recruitment processes before 2017 were affected by corruption, political interference and delays, leaving many young candidates waiting for years.
He also accused the earlier system of allowing what he described as a “copying mafia” to operate during examinations. According to the Chief Minister, his government took action against those involved and confiscated properties linked to alleged illegal activities.
Adityanath said the problem was not a lack of ability among young people but the recruitment system that failed to provide them a fair opportunity.
UP Board exams and results shortened
The Chief Minister also cited changes in the Uttar Pradesh Board examination system as an example of administrative reform.
He recalled directing officials after taking charge in 2017 to complete examinations and declare results within a much shorter timeframe. According to him, the Board now completes examinations involving around 56 lakh candidates in 14 days, with results announced within the following 14 days.
He contrasted this with the earlier system, when examinations that began in February could continue until June.
Adityanath said the state has also directed universities and other educational institutions to focus more strongly on students’ skills, career preparation and employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister said the government’s recruitment reforms are intended not only to fill vacancies but also to create a system in which young people can compete on merit, receive timely results and move into employment without prolonged uncertainty.
