India Celebrates 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas: Honouring the Bravery and Sacrifice of the Armed Forces

Today, the nation stands united in pride and gratitude as it marks the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day that commemorates the extraordinary courage, resilience, and sacrifice of the Indian armed forces during the Kargil War of 1999.

Celebrated annually on 26th July, this day honours the historic victory of India in Operation Vijay, a military campaign launched to evict infiltrators and Pakistani soldiers who had occupied strategic peaks in the Kargil sector of Jammu & Kashmir. The conflict, which lasted over two months, resulted in a hard-fought victory for India and reasserted its control over the high-altitude posts.

A Salute to the Martyrs

On this solemn yet proud day, tributes are being paid across the country to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the sovereignty and safety of the nation.
