Rohtak: Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Granted 40-Day Parole, 15th Release Since 2017
Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is serving sentences for the rape of two sadhvis and the murder of a journalist, has once again been granted a 40-day parole. He is currently lodged at Sunaria Jail and will stay at the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Sirsa during the parole period.
Ram Rahim is serving a 20-year prison sentence in the rape case involving two of his female followers. Convicted in August 2017, this parole marks the 15th time he has been granted temporary release from jail since his conviction.
Earlier, Ram Rahim was released from Sunaria Jail on August 15 last year. The latest parole coincides with January 25, which holds significance for the Sirsa dera as it marks the birth anniversary of Shah Satnam Ji Maharaj, the second head of Dera Sacha Sauda.
Since his imprisonment in 2017, Ram Rahim has been granted parole or furlough 14 times previously, enabling multiple temporary exits from prison. The current approval makes it his 15th parole so far.
Meanwhile, jail authorities in Rohtak said they are yet to receive the formal release orders, after which the parole process will be implemented.
