Rajnath Singh says borders can change, hints at possibility of Sindh rejoining India.

NEW DELHI: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said borders “can change” as he hinted that Sindh, which went to Pakistan during Partition, could “someday return to India,” citing its deep civilisational ties with the country.

Singh said Sindh remains spiritually linked to India and quoted LK Advani to highlight how Sindhi Hindus never fully accepted its separation. He emphasised the sacred significance of the Indus River for both Hindus and many Muslims in Sindh.

Recounting his 2019 visit to migrant Sindhi families in Delhi, Singh said their poor living conditions pushed him to introduce a citizenship bill that passed the Lok Sabha but stalled in the Rajya Sabha. He added that Amit Shah later advanced the effort, referring to the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Singh also reiterated his earlier claim that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir would eventually integrate with India “on its own.”
