Delhi: 24-Year-Old Man Shot Dead at Cafe in Maujpur, Family Alleges Loan Dispute Behind Killing
Delhi Cafe Shooting Shocks Northeast Delhi
A 24-year-old man was brutally shot dead late Friday night at a cafe in Maujpur, northeast Delhi, triggering public outrage and demands for swift justice. The victim, identified as Faizan alias Fazzi, a resident of the Welcome area, was gunned down during a violent attack at Mr King Lounge and Cafe.
The incident occurred on January 23 around 10:28 pm, under the jurisdiction of Welcome police station in Delhi’s Shahdara district.
Victim Declared Dead at Hospital
According to police officials, a PCR call reporting gunfire prompted immediate action. When police reached the cafe, they found Faizan critically injured with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Faizan was the son of Sehroj Alam.
Accused Claims Personal Revenge, Denies Money Angle
During questioning, accused Moin Qureshi allegedly confessed to the shooting, claiming it was an act of personal revenge.
“I killed Faizan because he had slapped me four months ago. My father and family members had no role in this. There was no money dispute,” the accused stated in his confession.
Police are currently verifying the statement as part of the ongoing investigation.
Multiple Gunshots, Signs of Struggle Found
Eyewitnesses and family members alleged that Faizan was shot at least three times, including one bullet to the head and two to the chest. Police sources reportedly confirmed that two magazine rounds were fired, suggesting a sustained attack.
Faizan also suffered cuts on his hands, indicating a possible struggle before he was killed. The shooting reportedly occurred inside or just outside the cafe, turning the busy hangout into a crime scene.

Police Investigation Intensifies
Delhi Police sealed the area and deployed a crime team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts to collect evidence. A case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder, along with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
CCTV footage from the cafe and nearby locations is being examined to trace the attackers’ movements. Multiple teams have been formed to raid suspected hideouts, question cafe staff, and track down any accomplices.
Family Alleges Loan Dispute, Names Father-Son Duo
Contradicting the accused’s claim, Faizan’s family alleged that the killing stemmed from a loan dispute. His brother described Faizan as a “simple man” who had borrowed money but was unable to repay it.
The family accused a father-son duo of harassing Faizan over the debt and claimed they had earlier approached Bhajanpura police station for help.
“They came to our house and started fighting. We filed a complaint, but no action was taken. My brother was shot three times. We just want justice,” the victim’s brother said.
Police said the accused are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to arrest all those involved.
