Trump Calls Iran Oil Move a “Big Present” as West Asia War Intensifies and Global Tensions Rise

The ongoing Iran-Israel war took a dramatic turn on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran had given the United States a “very big present” related to oil and gas, hinting at a possible shift in the energy dynamics of the conflict. While Trump did not elaborate on the details, his remarks suggested growing confidence in Tehran’s leadership and raised fresh questions about the future of global energy markets and diplomatic negotiations.

Trump also held a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking their first direct interaction since the conflict erupted on February 28. The discussion focused on the unfolding war and its impact on energy supply routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, which remains a crucial corridor for global oil and gas shipments. The conflict has already affected the movement of energy resources and led to casualties, including Indian nationals in the region, intensifying concerns in New Delhi.

On the ground, hostilities continued to escalate. Iran launched a fresh wave of missile strikes targeting Tel Aviv, causing damage to buildings and injuries in residential areas. Tel Aviv mayor Ron Huldai confirmed that a direct hit struck a building in an upscale neighbourhood, underlining the growing intensity of the conflict. Meanwhile, Israel carried out airstrikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs, targeting strongholds linked to the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, and claimed it had captured two members of the organisation in southern Lebanon.

Amid rising tensions, Pakistan signalled its willingness to play a diplomatic role. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Islamabad is ready to host peace talks aimed at ending the war, positioning the country as a potential mediator in the crisis. The offer comes as several nations push for dialogue to prevent further escalation in the already volatile region.

The United States is also preparing for a larger military presence in the Middle East. Reports indicate that the Pentagon may deploy thousands of troops from the elite 82nd Airborne Division, adding to the significant buildup of forces even as Washington continues to explore diplomatic options with Iran.

With missile strikes, military deployments, and diplomatic efforts unfolding simultaneously, the conflict is entering a critical phase. Global powers are now balancing pressure and negotiation, while energy markets and regional stability hang in the balance as the war shows no immediate signs of slowing down.
