PM Modi Promises End to Crime and Infiltration in Bengal, Announces Six Guarantees at Haldia Rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government while addressing a massive election rally in Haldia, West Bengal, promising a decisive crackdown on crime, corruption, and infiltration if the BJP comes to power in the state. Framing the upcoming election as a turning point for Bengal’s future, Modi said the contest is not just about forming a government but about restoring the state’s lost pride and economic strength.

Addressing a large crowd at the rally, the Prime Minister announced six key guarantees for the people of West Bengal, assuring strict action against criminals and a fresh investigation into past corruption cases. He said that once a BJP government is formed, those involved in scams and illegal activities would face legal consequences and pending cases would be reopened to ensure accountability. The strong messaging appeared aimed at positioning the BJP as a party focused on law and order and governance reforms.

Modi said Bengal is at a crossroads, where voters must choose between what he described as a government marked by corruption and a future driven by development and opportunities. He argued that the state, once known as a major industrial and trade hub, has gradually lost its competitive edge due to poor governance and lack of investment. Highlighting Haldia’s industrial past, he said the region once attracted workers and businesses from across the country, but many young people are now forced to migrate to other states in search of employment.

The Prime Minister also criticised the state government for allegedly blocking or delaying several central welfare schemes, claiming that political considerations had prevented people from receiving the full benefits of development programmes. According to him, the Centre has launched multiple initiatives for infrastructure, industry, and social welfare, but their implementation in Bengal has faced hurdles due to administrative and political differences.

In his speech, Modi presented the election as a broader movement for change, saying the people of Bengal are determined to overcome fear and bring a new era of growth and stability. He emphasised that a developed Bengal would play a crucial role in India’s overall progress and called on voters to support policies that encourage investment, job creation, and stronger governance.

As the election campaign intensifies, the BJP’s focus on law and order, employment, and industrial revival indicates a strategy aimed at attracting urban and young voters, especially in industrial regions like Haldia. With political rhetoric growing sharper on both sides, the West Bengal election is shaping up to be a high-stakes battle centered on governance, development, and regional identity.
