By Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Opposition, accusing it of disrupting the ongoing Assembly session and preventing discussions on key development initiatives. He said repeated interruptions in the House had deprived the people of meaningful debate on policies aimed at benefiting youth, farmers, women, and economically weaker sections.
Addressing reporters in Lucknow, the Chief Minister described the Opposition’s conduct as “undemocratic” and “unconstitutional.” According to him, disrupting legislative proceedings weakens the democratic process and delays decisions on issues directly affecting the state’s development and public welfare.
Yogi alleged that the Assembly session had been planned to deliberate on several important proposals, including new programmes for employment generation, skill development, agricultural support, women’s empowerment, and welfare measures for the poor. He claimed that these discussions could not take place because of continuous protests and disruptions inside the House.
The Chief Minister specifically targeted the Samajwadi Party, accusing it of obstructing debates that could have resulted in fresh policy decisions. He said the party’s actions reflected its political approach and claimed that it had previously failed to safeguard the interests of groups such as Shiksha Mitras and other public service workers.
Referring to the state’s supplementary budget, Yogi said the government had presented an additional budget of more than ₹59,000 crore with the objective of funding new development projects and strengthening existing welfare programmes. He added that financial provisions had already been made for several sectors, and the Assembly session was expected to provide an opportunity for detailed discussion before implementation.
According to the Chief Minister, the supplementary budget was designed to support employment opportunities for young people, strengthen agriculture-related initiatives, improve welfare programmes for economically weaker families, and expand measures promoting women’s dignity and self-reliance.
He argued that meaningful legislative debate is essential for introducing such programmes and said the Opposition’s refusal to allow normal proceedings had affected discussions on matters of public importance.
Yogi further maintained that the Assembly is the appropriate platform for elected representatives to raise public concerns and participate in policy discussions. He said constructive debate helps improve governance, while repeated disruptions only delay decisions that directly benefit citizens.
The Chief Minister concluded by reiterating that his government remains committed to implementing development-focused policies despite political differences. He expressed hope that future Assembly proceedings would allow detailed discussions on public welfare and enable lawmakers to work collectively for the interests of Uttar Pradesh’s youth, farmers, women, and vulnerable communities.
