His remarks came a day after the INDIA bloc held a rally in Delhi on November 1, accusing the BJP of undermining democracy through alleged electoral manipulation. Leading the BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ padayatra, Shah dismissed the opposition’s campaign as a rally in defence of infiltrators and accused the Congress of creating political disorder to remain in the spotlight.
Shah Questions Congress Over EVM Allegations
Addressing the gathering, Shah questioned the Congress’s criticism of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), asking how the party had managed to form governments in states such as Telangana if the machines were unreliable.
He also took aim at Rahul Gandhi, saying the Congress leader could become Prime Minister only in a mock Parliament. Shah accused him of holding the Constitution in his hand while failing to respect its principles.
“Rahul holds the Constitution in hand, but doesn’t respect the Constitution. Rahul ji, you don’t allow Parliament to run. Be it EVMs, SIR, infiltrators, I challenge you from Hyderabad. We are ready to convene a special session of Parliament. Come for debate,” Shah said.
Home Minister Repeats Pledge to Remove Infiltrators
The Home Minister also reiterated the government’s position on the removal of alleged illegal immigrants from electoral rolls, declaring that every infiltrator would be removed.
“We will remove every infiltrator from the electoral rolls,” he said.
The SIR exercise has become a major political flashpoint, with opposition parties questioning its implementation and raising concerns over the electoral process. The BJP, meanwhile, has defended the exercise and argued that electoral rolls must be free of ineligible entries.
Shah Targets Congress Over Opposition Protest
Shah further claimed that if a special Parliament session were convened, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would expose the Congress during the debate. He said Modi would “shred Congress into pieces”, while accusing the opposition party of relying on protests and disruption to attract public attention.
By offering a parliamentary debate, Shah sought to turn the opposition’s “vote chori” campaign into a direct political challenge inside the House. His remarks have also sharpened the confrontation between the BJP and the INDIA bloc over electoral rolls, EVMs and the SIR process.
