By Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday, describing the interaction as a source of renewed energy and guidance. The meeting took place amid a series of developments in Uttar Pradesh, including the state’s growing role in defence manufacturing and preparations within the BJP organisation.
The Prime Minister’s Office described the meeting as a courtesy call and shared a photograph of the two leaders on X. The interaction came a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s expanding defence production capabilities while speaking at the inauguration of the fourth Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida.
Shah highlights UP’s defence manufacturing push
During his address at UPITS, Shah said Uttar Pradesh was emerging as an important contributor to India’s manufacturing and economic growth. He specifically referred to the production of BrahMos missiles and AK-203 assault rifles in the state.
Shah said the BrahMos missiles being manufactured in Uttar Pradesh were giving “sleepless nights” to Pakistan, while the AK-203 rifles were having a similar impact on Maoists. His remarks came while highlighting the state’s growing contribution to India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.
The Home Minister also recalled Prime Minister Modi’s launch of the Make in India initiative around 12 years ago. He said cooperation between the Centre and state governments had subsequently helped build India’s manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its ambition to become a global hub for production and innovation.
Shah described Uttar Pradesh as an emerging engine of the country’s growth, pointing to increasing investment and production activity across the state.
Yogi’s meeting with PM Modi comes amid BJP organisational activity
The meeting between Yogi and Modi also comes at a time when the BJP has been reviewing its organisational preparedness in Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier this week, BJP national president Nitin Nabin visited the state for two days, with his tour focused largely on western Uttar Pradesh. During the visit, the party reviewed its organisational arrangements at multiple levels, including booths, Shakti Kendras, mandals and districts.
Nabin also interacted with party workers as part of the organisational review.
During his Meerut visit, Nabin paid tribute at the Kargil Martyrs Memorial Park and planted a tree in memory of soldiers who died defending the country.
In a message shared on X, Nabin said the courage, dedication and sacrifice of Indian soldiers would remain a source of inspiration for the country.
Uttar Pradesh remains a key focus
The Yogi-Modi meeting came against the backdrop of several high-profile government and political activities in Uttar Pradesh, including the UP International Trade Show and the state’s expanding defence manufacturing profile.
At UPITS, Shah and Yogi jointly inaugurated the fourth edition of the trade show, which is aimed at connecting Uttar Pradesh-based businesses and products with domestic and international markets.
The Home Minister’s remarks on defence manufacturing added another dimension to the state’s economic pitch, particularly its role in the production of military equipment.
While officials described Yogi’s meeting with Modi as a courtesy call, the interaction takes place during a period of significant economic, organisational and political activity in Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister’s message following the meeting focused on the guidance and encouragement he received from the Prime Minister.
