Producer Dinesh Vijan and senior public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam recently met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat to discuss their upcoming film, Prahaar – The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam. The meeting comes ahead of the film’s scheduled theatrical release on October 16 and centres attention on a biographical drama about a legal career shaped by some of India’s most closely watched criminal cases.
During the interaction, Bhagwat appreciated the filmmakers’ efforts to bring an important chapter of Nikam’s life to the screen. Vijan and Nikam also shared the story behind the project, which aims to introduce audiences to the prosecutor’s professional journey and the experiences that brought him national recognition.
Ujjwal Nikam’s Legal Career Comes to the Big Screen
Nikam has been a prominent figure in India’s legal system, particularly for his role in prosecuting Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist captured during the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. His involvement in several high-profile criminal cases has made his career a subject of public interest.
Prahaar – The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam seeks to explore the professional experiences and challenges that shaped his work as a prosecutor. The film’s focus on a real-life legal figure places courtroom proceedings and the pursuit of justice at the centre of its narrative.
Rajkummar Rao Plays the Lead Role
Directed by Avinash Arun, the film features Rajkummar Rao as Ujjwal Nikam. Rao’s portrayal brings the prosecutor’s life and career to the screen, with the story drawing on cases that have attracted significant national attention.
The supporting cast includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher and Tarun Sharma in pivotal roles. Their performances form part of the ensemble bringing Nikam’s professional journey to the big screen.
Maddock Films Backs the Biographical Drama
The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner. The project adds a real-life legal story to the production house’s slate, with Nikam’s career providing the central narrative.
The meeting with Bhagwat has brought additional attention to the film ahead of its October 16 release. With a recognised prosecutor at the heart of the story and Rajkummar Rao in the lead role, the film aims to present a cinematic account of the work and experiences that defined Nikam’s public career.
