The visit comes amid reports of dissatisfaction among some BJP leaders and workers over coordination between the party’s organisational network and the government. Irani’s discussions are expected to focus on the party’s functioning in the state, as the opposition Congress steps up efforts to mobilise its workers and highlight what it describes as shortcomings of the BJP-led government.
Meetings with Chief Minister and Party Leaders
During her stay, Irani is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and several ministers individually, according to party sources. The discussions will cover the functioning of the party and coordination between its organisational structure and the state administration.
Siddharth Sambu, the BJP’s co-in-charge for Chhattisgarh, accompanied Irani on the visit. Sai also confirmed that the BJP leader would hold meetings with party leaders during her two-day stay.
The visit marks Irani’s first trip to Chhattisgarh since she was appointed to oversee the party’s affairs in the state. Her meetings are taking place at a time when organisational coordination has emerged as a concern among a section of party leaders and workers.
Congress Steps Up Political Activity
The BJP’s internal review is unfolding as the opposition Congress works to strengthen its organisational presence in Chhattisgarh. The party has been planning programmes aimed at mobilising workers and drawing public attention to what it alleges are failures of the state government.
Against this backdrop, Irani’s visit provides an opportunity for the BJP leadership to hear feedback from state leaders and review how the party organisation is working alongside the government.
The outcome of the meetings may help shape the party’s organisational priorities in Chhattisgarh as both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress pursue their respective political programmes.
