Centre Assures Support to Cyclone-Affected States
Sai thanked Shah for assuring the state of all possible assistance from the Centre. He said protecting lives and ensuring public safety remained the government’s priority as officials continued to assess the weather situation.

Rain Continues Across Chhattisgarh, Schools Closed
Several districts of Chhattisgarh, including Raipur, received light to moderate rainfall for the second consecutive day on Thursday. The rain followed Cyclone Arnab’s landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast on Wednesday. Schools remained closed in several districts, including Raipur, as a precaution.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Raipur, the depression formed from the remnants of the very severe cyclonic storm Arnab was moving northwards at around 23 kmph. At 11:30 am on Thursday, it was located over central parts of Chhattisgarh.
The weather system was expected to continue moving north and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area over north Chhattisgarh and adjoining north-western Odisha by Thursday evening.
Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Likely Over Next Two Days
The weather department has forecast rainfall at isolated places across Chhattisgarh over the next two days, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph.
Raipur is likely to remain generally cloudy on Friday, with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
With rainfall expected to continue, the state administration is maintaining close coordination with district authorities to monitor local conditions and ensure that assistance can be provided promptly wherever needed.
