Senior BJP leader B L Santhosh on Saturday visited former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa at his Bengaluru residence, in a meeting that quickly drew political attention within party circles.
What made the interaction stand out was not just the meeting itself, but the public messaging that followed. Both leaders shared details and photographs of the interaction on social media, with each praising the other in unusually warm terms.
Santhosh said the discussion revolved around current political developments and social issues. He also highlighted Yediyurappa’s five decades in public life and confirmed that a large felicitation event would be organised in Chitradurga on May 9 to honour the veteran BJP leader’s contribution to Karnataka politics.
Yediyurappa, in his own post, described the meeting as “cordial” and said the two leaders discussed the BJP’s electoral prospects in different states. He expressed confidence that the party was heading towards strong performances in the elections whose results are being closely watched across the country.
The former Chief Minister also praised Santhosh’s organisational abilities, calling his work an inspiration for BJP workers. He said Santhosh has played a major role in strengthening the party structure across India through disciplined and efficient management.
The meeting has sparked fresh political discussion because both leaders have often been viewed as representing different power centres within the Karnataka BJP. However, the public display of camaraderie is being seen by many within the party as a message of unity ahead of important political developments in the state.
Sources close to Santhosh said he regularly meets Yediyurappa during his visits to Bengaluru, though such meetings generally remain private. According to insiders, this was one of the rare occasions where details and visuals from the interaction were publicly shared by both sides.
The BJP is now preparing for the large-scale felicitation programme for Yediyurappa in Chitradurga, where party leaders are expecting a massive turnout. Organisers are reportedly aiming to mobilise nearly 10 lakh people for the event, underlining Yediyurappa’s continuing influence among BJP workers and supporters in Karnataka.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also expected to attend the programme, which party leaders believe could become a major political show of strength for the BJP in the state.
