Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan began its Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 in New Delhi with a strong emphasis on blending national consciousness with spiritual values in education, as senior RSS functionary Dr. Krishna Gopal highlighted the need for a balanced and value-driven academic framework. The inaugural session, held on April 3, brought together education leaders and organisational representatives to discuss the future direction of India-centric education and the role of cultural values in shaping students.
The opening ceremony, marked by the traditional lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, set the tone for a four-day deliberation on strengthening education through a holistic approach. Speakers at the event stressed that education must go beyond textbooks and examinations, focusing instead on developing responsible, value-oriented citizens who can contribute to nation-building in a rapidly changing world.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Krishna Gopal said that national consciousness and spirituality together form the foundation of a strong and united society. He underlined that India’s cultural strength lies in its diversity and inclusive outlook, and education should nurture a sense of commitment towards the nation while instilling ethical and spiritual values among students. He also pointed out that growing materialism and self-centered thinking in modern society have led to intolerance, and the solution lies in integrating moral and spiritual principles into mainstream education.
Highlighting the role of technology, he noted that while artificial intelligence and modern tools are transforming education, they cannot replace human sensitivity, creativity, and cultural understanding. According to him, students must receive both modern knowledge and spiritual guidance so they can lead purposeful and balanced lives.
The session was attended by Vidya Bharati’s national leadership, including President Ravindra Kanhere, General Secretary Deshraj Sharma, and Organising Secretary Govind Mahant. A commemorative publication titled “Saptashakti Sangam” was also released, and tributes were paid to inspiring personalities who contributed to the organisation’s growth.
The AGM will continue for four days, during which representatives from across the country will discuss academic strategies, organisational plans, and future initiatives aimed at expanding value-based education and strengthening Vidya Bharati’s role in India’s education ecosystem.
