PM Modi holds talks with Mark Carney and PM Albanese, launches tri-nation Tech & Innovation Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met Canada’s PM Mark Carney and Australia’s PM Anthony Albanese on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, where he announced a new Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership. Modi said the trilateral initiative will boost cooperation in emerging technologies, diversify supply chains, and support clean energy and AI adoption.

Earlier, Modi also met UK PM Keir Starmer, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and Brazilian President Lula. He said his talks with Starmer brought “new energy” to India–UK ties and described his discussion with Guterres as “very productive.”

Addressing the G20 opening session, Modi urged a rethinking of global development metrics and proposed a G20 initiative to counter the drug-terror nexus, along with the creation of a Global Traditional Knowledge Repository to promote sustainable and inclusive growth.
