Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-awaited Noida International Airport at Jewar next month, marking a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure push. The upcoming airport, he said, is set to become the largest in India and a transformative hub for both passenger and cargo traffic.
Speaking during an interaction with members of the Indian diaspora in Singapore, Yogi highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s expanding aviation network, positioning the state as an emerging gateway for domestic and international connectivity. His remarks underscore the government’s effort to project UP not just as a political heavyweight but as a fast-growing economic and logistics centre.
“Uttar Pradesh currently has the highest number of airports in India,” Yogi said, adding that the Jewar facility will further strengthen that lead. “Next month, the Noida International Airport at Jewar, which is going to be the biggest airport in the country, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi,” he told the gathering.
The airport, located in Gautam Buddh Nagar district near Noida, is being developed as a large-scale integrated aviation hub. Officials say it is designed to ease congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport while boosting connectivity for western Uttar Pradesh and parts of Haryana and Rajasthan. The strategic location near the Yamuna Expressway is expected to integrate seamlessly with road and upcoming rail networks.

Beyond passenger movement, the state government is positioning Jewar as a significant cargo centre. With dedicated freight facilities and proximity to industrial corridors, the airport is expected to support export-driven industries, electronics manufacturing, and perishable goods supply chains.
Yogi emphasised that the airport would serve as a catalyst for broader economic activity in the region. Real estate development, hospitality, logistics parks and ancillary services are already witnessing momentum around the project site.
Once operational, the Jewar airport is expected to alter the aviation landscape of northern India, expanding capacity and offering an alternative gateway to the National Capital Region. With the inauguration date drawing closer, the project is being showcased as a symbol of Uttar Pradesh’s rapid infrastructure expansion under the current government.
