Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday underlined a message that blended ethics with leadership, saying that power alone is not enough—it must be anchored in virtue to truly benefit society. Speaking at an award function in Nagpur, Bhagwat’s remarks focused on the responsibility that comes with influence, rather than just the pursuit of success.
Addressing a gathering during the Nag Bhushan award ceremony, he pointed out that power without moral direction can lose its purpose. According to him, true strength lies in combining capability with character, a balance that ensures progress benefits not just individuals but the wider community.
The event celebrated individuals who have excelled in their respective fields, with industrialist Satyanarayan Nuwal being honoured for his contributions to the defence sector and social service. A Padma Shri awardee, Nuwal’s journey was cited as an example of how consistent effort and commitment can lead to meaningful impact.
Bhagwat used the occasion to reflect on the nature of achievement. He described success not as a one-time milestone, but as the outcome of sustained effort, famously echoing the idea that accomplishment is shaped far more by hard work than by inspiration alone. In his view, recognising this balance helps people stay grounded even as they achieve greater heights.
He also spoke about the influence of achievers on the younger generation. Success, he said, has a dual effect—it can bring pride, but it also serves as motivation for others who aspire to follow a similar path. This, he suggested, makes it important for successful individuals to remain mindful of their role as examples.
The RSS chief further emphasised that those in positions of power should not become fixated on outcomes alone. Instead, he encouraged a focus on continuous improvement, discipline, and dedication—qualities that ultimately define long-term success.
The ceremony also saw young achievers being recognised, reinforcing the theme of perseverance and excellence across age groups. Bhagwat’s message, however, remained consistent throughout: power gains meaning only when it is guided by values, and success becomes truly impactful when it inspires others.
