Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma Meets Union Minister Manohar Lal to Review Energy, Housing and Urban Development Projects

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma held a meeting with Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal in New Delhi, where the two leaders reviewed key development priorities for the state. Their discussions focused on strengthening infrastructure, accelerating urban development and enhancing coordination between the Centre and the state government.

The meeting covered a wide range of sectors, including power, housing, public transport and urban infrastructure. Both leaders emphasized the need for faster implementation of ongoing projects and greater collaboration to meet Rajasthan’s growing development requirements.

A major part of the discussions centred on the state’s energy sector. With electricity demand expected to rise in the coming years, the leaders reviewed measures to improve power generation, transmission and distribution systems. They also discussed expanding clean and renewable energy initiatives while strengthening the state’s electricity infrastructure through continued cooperation between the Centre and Rajasthan.

Housing and urban development projects also featured prominently during the meeting. Progress under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and other centrally sponsored schemes was reviewed, with a focus on ensuring timely implementation and improving civic infrastructure across urban areas. The leaders stressed the importance of creating modern cities equipped with better public services and quality infrastructure for residents.

Public transport was another key agenda item. The two leaders discussed expanding electric bus services across Rajasthan to promote environmentally friendly mobility. They reviewed plans to increase the number of e-buses, develop the required charging infrastructure and improve access to safe, efficient and sustainable public transport for commuters.

The meeting also included discussions on the future expansion of metro rail networks in major cities of Rajasthan. Recognising the rapid pace of urbanisation and increasing traffic congestion, both sides agreed on the need to strengthen mass transit systems and develop long-term urban mobility solutions that can support the state’s future growth.

Chief Minister Sharma thanked the Union Government for its continued support in implementing development projects across Rajasthan. He expressed confidence that close coordination between the Centre and the state would help accelerate infrastructure projects and ensure that their benefits reach people more effectively.

Union Minister Manohar Lal assured the Chief Minister of the Centre’s continued assistance in advancing Rajasthan’s priorities. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives related to the power sector, housing, urban development and modern public transportation.

Officials described the meeting as an important step toward enhancing cooperation between the two governments, with a shared focus on improving infrastructure, expanding sustainable transport and promoting balanced urban development across Rajasthan.
