Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his sensational form in the ongoing India vs South Africa Under-19 ODI series, smashing another commanding century in the third match on Sunday. Opening the innings, the teenage sensation put on a massive 227-run partnership with Aaron George, laying the foundation for India’s dominant display.
The 14-year-old scored 127 off just 74 balls, hammering nine fours and ten sixes in a breathtaking exhibition of power hitting. His fearless approach from the very start left the South African U19 bowlers under constant pressure.
Leading the Indian side in the absence of regular captain Ayush Mhatre, Sooryavanshi has set the tone throughout the series. In the second ODI, he had already announced his intent with a blistering 68 off 24 deliveries, bringing up his half-century in just 19 balls. His explosive knock played a key role in India’s victory in the rain-hit, DLS-affected encounter.
In the third ODI, Sooryavanshi once again converted a strong start into a memorable century, underlining his rapid rise at the Under-19 level. His consistent, aggressive performances have firmly established him as one of the most exciting young batting prospects in world cricket.
Last year, Vaibhav grabbed global attention by recording the fastest century in Under-19 cricket, reaching the landmark in just 52 balls against England in Worcester.
With this win, India now lead the three-match ODI series 2–0 against South Africa U19s. The series serves as crucial preparation for the upcoming Under-19 World Cup, scheduled to begin on January 15 in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
