Vidya Bharati Inaugurates ‘Vidya Bharati Bhawan’ in Delhi, Emphasises Value-Based Education and Nation-Building

Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan on Thursday inaugurated its new central office, Vidya Bharati Bhawan, in New Delhi, marking what the organisation described as a major step towards strengthening value-based education and cultural-rooted learning in India. The inauguration, held with traditional Vedic rituals at Deendayal Upadhyay Marg, brought together education leaders, spiritual figures, and policymakers, highlighting the growing role of non-governmental educational institutions in shaping the country’s academic landscape.

The event reflected a broader push to align education with Indian cultural values and the National Education Policy (NEP), with speakers stressing the need to combine modern learning with heritage, skills, and social responsibility. The newly built office is expected to function as the national coordination centre for Vidya Bharati’s expanding network of schools, colleges, and education projects across the country.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who attended the ceremony as the chief guest, described Vidya Bharati as an important reference point in education, language promotion, and skill development. He noted that several elements of the National Education Policy, including mother tongue-based education, teacher training reforms, bagless days, and skill-focused learning, echo practices already implemented by the organisation over the years. According to him, such institutions play a key role in strengthening India’s education system at the grassroots level.

Senior RSS functionary Suresh Soni highlighted that while Vidya Bharati has gained widespread acceptance in society, the challenge now lies in expanding value-based and humane education to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world. He stressed that infrastructure alone cannot build a developed India, and emotional, cultural, and ethical development of students must remain central to educational efforts.

The inauguration ceremony began with a havan at the new office complex and was followed by a cultural programme at Bal Bhavan, where students presented classical dances, group songs, and a theatrical performance on Bhagwan Birsa Munda, showcasing India’s cultural heritage and nationalist spirit. Spiritual leader Anandamurti Guru Maa praised Vidya Bharati’s work in remote and Naxal-affected areas, saying the new office would further accelerate its mission of nation-building through education.

Vidya Bharati officials said the organisation currently operates in 684 districts with over 24,000 schools, 59 colleges, and two universities, serving more than 3.3 million students with the support of around 1.5 lakh teachers. Through Ekal Vidyalayas and Sanskar Kendras in rural and tribal regions, the institution is also providing basic education to thousands of underprivileged children.

The inauguration concluded with a vote of thanks by Akhil Bharatiya President Dr. Ravindra Kanhere, who acknowledged the efforts of contributors and organisers. The event underscored Vidya Bharati’s continued focus on expanding culturally rooted, value-driven education as part of its long-term vision for nation-building.
