By Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu told the Lok Sabha on Friday (December 12, 2025) that the Centre can step in to regulate airfares only in exceptional situations, but year-round caps are not feasible as prices are driven by seasonal demand and supply. He was responding to a private member’s resolution by Congress MP Shafi Paramabil.
Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet approved a Bill to repeal 71 obsolete laws — 65 amendment Acts and six principal Acts, including at least one from the British era.
Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi also raised concerns over rising air pollution in major Indian cities and sought a detailed discussion in Parliament.
