By The Bharatiya Janata Party has started strengthening its organisational machinery in Uttar Pradesh well ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, with newly appointed state in-charge Vinod Tawde beginning a round of meetings with the party’s senior leadership. Tawde’s first visit to Lucknow included a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, signalling an early focus on coordination between the government and the organisation.
Tawde met Yogi Adityanath on Sunday in the presence of UP co-in-charge Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel. The meeting came after discussions with Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, as the BJP begins assessing its organisational preparedness across the state. Booth-level mobilisation, voter outreach, regional feedback and coordination between party workers and the government are expected to remain key areas of focus.
Tawde begins with organisational assessment
Rather than launching his tenure with a major public event, Tawde has started by meeting senior leaders and party functionaries. BJP leaders have indicated that the immediate objective is to understand the organisation at the grassroots level before deciding on the broader electoral strategy.
Party functionaries are expected to provide feedback on the functioning of the organisation in different districts and regions, including areas where the party may need to strengthen its presence.
A senior party functionary said the BJP does not want to wait until the formal campaign begins to activate its workers. The emphasis, according to the party, is on ensuring that the organisational network is functioning effectively well in advance of the election.
Constituency-wise preparedness likely to be reviewed
Tawde is expected to meet regional presidents, in-charges, general secretaries and other office-bearers as part of his initial assessment.
The BJP is also likely to examine preparedness at the constituency level. Instead of relying only on the results of the previous election, the party plans to assess the current political and organisational situation in individual constituencies, including the strength of its local network and areas requiring additional mobilisation.
This exercise is expected to give the new state in-charge a clearer picture of the party’s strengths and weaknesses before the BJP settles on its larger election strategy.
BJP prepares for SP’s PDA strategy
The BJP’s organisational push comes as the Samajwadi Party works to consolidate its PDA strategy, centred on backward classes, Dalits and minorities, for the 2027 polls.
Tawde has already criticised the SP’s social coalition approach, indicating that the BJP intends to directly challenge the narrative politically. However, party leaders suggest that its response will not be limited to speeches and messaging.
The organisation is expected to focus on outreach across different social groups, with an effort to retain the BJP’s existing support base while expanding its presence among communities where it sees room for growth.
Yogi to remain central to BJP’s 2027 campaign
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to remain a central figure in the BJP’s campaign for the next Assembly election. Tawde has said the party will contest the 2027 polls under Yogi’s leadership.
The government’s development and welfare record is also expected to feature prominently in the BJP’s campaign messaging, although the immediate focus remains on strengthening the organisation rather than beginning a full-scale public campaign.
For Tawde, the first phase is about getting a detailed understanding of the party’s network across Uttar Pradesh. His meetings with Yogi Adityanath and other senior leaders mark the beginning of an exercise that will gradually move from the state level to regional, district, constituency and booth-level preparations.
The BJP’s objective is to have its workers and organisational structure ready before the election campaign reaches its peak, allowing the party to shift into full electoral mode without having to build its machinery at the last moment.
