Allu Arjun named among 23 accused in Pushpa 2 premiere stampede case
Actor Allu Arjun has been named among 23 accused in the chargesheet filed in connection with the stampede that occurred during the premiere of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre in RTC X Roads, Hyderabad, in December 2024. The chargesheet was filed this week by the Chikkadpally police.
Besides the actor, the chargesheet names Sandhya 70mm Theatre owners and partners, theatre management staff, event organisers, private security personnel, bouncers and members of Allu Arjun’s personal security team. Allu Arjun has been listed as accused number 11 in the case.
Police said 14 of the 23 accused were arrested during the investigation, while nine secured anticipatory bail and were served notices.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said the probe revealed serious lapses in planning, crowd management, security arrangements and coordination between the theatre management, event organisers and private security staff.
The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, during the premiere show, when a stampede broke out, killing 35-year-old M. Revathi and critically injuring her nine-year-old son, Sritej. The child underwent prolonged treatment and continues neuro-rehabilitation in Hyderabad.
The chargesheet was submitted on December 24, more than a year after the case was registered. Police said the investigation is complete and the matter will now proceed through the legal process.
