India’s judicial infrastructure received a significant boost on Sunday with the inauguration of the Tower of Justice in Gurugram, a state-of-the-art court complex designed to improve the efficiency, accessibility and technology-driven functioning of the justice delivery system. The facility was inaugurated by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant in the presence of the Haryana Chief Minister, Union ministers, senior judges and other dignitaries.
The newly inaugurated judicial complex has been developed to meet the growing demands of one of Haryana’s fastest-expanding cities. Equipped with advanced digital infrastructure and modern public amenities, the Tower of Justice is expected to enhance court operations while offering a more convenient experience for litigants, lawyers and judicial officers.
The complex houses 56 fully equipped courtrooms, making it one of the largest judicial facilities in the region. It also includes a judicial service centre, modern conference halls, spacious waiting areas for visitors, separate lock-up facilities for men and women, a dedicated server room, a CCTV control centre, and childcare facilities, including a crèche and a mother-and-child care room.
Officials said the integrated design of the building aims to support faster case management, improve security and facilitate smoother day-to-day court functioning. The complex has also been equipped with video conferencing systems, a high-speed local area network (LAN), uninterrupted power supply and a comprehensive CCTV surveillance system to support digital and transparent judicial proceedings.
Parking and public access have also been given special attention. The premises can accommodate 530 vehicles, including 130 parking spaces within the main building and an additional 400 spaces in a multi-level basement parking facility. Dedicated escalator blocks have been installed to improve movement within the complex.
For members of the legal fraternity, the Tower of Justice includes modern bar rooms, a bar library, a canteen, a public dining area, copying services and other administrative facilities. Separate dining spaces for judges, along with fitness and support facilities, have also been incorporated into the building’s design.
The inauguration of the Tower of Justice marks another step in the modernisation of India’s judicial infrastructure, reflecting the increasing emphasis on technology-enabled courts and improved public services. Authorities believe the new facility will strengthen Gurugram’s judicial system while setting a benchmark for future court complexes across the country.
