By Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday praised Dharmendra Pradhan’s decision to resign as Union Education Minister, calling it an example of putting the nation’s interests ahead of personal office. In a message shared on social media, Shah said the move reflected the BJP’s belief that the country’s youth and students are more important than any government position.
His remarks came amid an ongoing national debate over the NEET examination controversy, with the Centre facing growing calls for accountability. Shah said the government’s priority remains protecting the interests of students while strengthening the integrity of the country’s examination system.
In his post, Shah said that for BJP workers, the nation and its young citizens always come before political positions. He described Pradhan’s resignation as a demonstration of responsibility and commitment to public interest.
The Home Minister also reiterated that the Narendra Modi government is committed to taking strong action against examination paper leaks. He said the Centre has initiated reforms aimed at preventing such incidents in the future and ensuring strict punishment for those found guilty.
Expressing confidence in the government’s approach, Shah said the measures announced by Prime Minister Modi would help deliver justice to students who appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and reinforce public trust in the examination process.
Highlighting Pradhan’s tenure as Education Minister, Shah credited him with playing a key role in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP), expanding PM SHRI schools, promoting digital learning, strengthening skill development initiatives, and improving collaboration between educational institutions and industry.
He also said Pradhan worked towards making examinations more inclusive and student-focused, adding that his contributions reflected a long-term commitment to improving India’s education sector and supporting the country’s development goals.
Pradhan’s resignation follows nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. The development has sparked strong political reactions, with opposition parties describing it as a response to public pressure, while BJP leaders have presented it as an example of accountability and placing national interest above individual positions.
