By Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a strong warning to senior police officials, saying negligence at the police station, outpost or beat level will not be tolerated. During a Janta Darshan at his official residence in Lucknow on Monday, he directed senior officers to ensure action against personnel found responsible for lapses in handling public complaints.
The Chief Minister’s warning came after several people appearing at the public hearing raised police-related grievances. Taking a strict view of the complaints, Adityanath also directed officials to speed up the resolution of revenue and law-and-order matters, ensure eligible beneficiaries receive government welfare schemes and take firm action against illegal land occupation.
Senior Police Officers Asked to Monitor Complaints
Addressing senior officers, Adityanath specifically named Police Commissioners, ADGs, IGs, DIGs and SSP-level officials and asked them to closely monitor complaints arising from the field.
He said any negligence by police personnel at the police station, outpost or beat level should be dealt with according to established rules. The Chief Minister directed the senior leadership to ensure that responsibility is fixed and appropriate action is taken whenever a complaint is found to involve negligence.
The directive reflects the emphasis being placed by the state government on accountability at the grassroots level, particularly where citizens approach the administration over policing and law-and-order issues.
Yogi Seeks Faster Disposal of Public Grievances
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to deal with genuine public complaints promptly and sensitively. Applications brought before him during the Janta Darshan were forwarded to the relevant departments and officers with directions for timely and satisfactory disposal.
Adityanath said every genuine grievance should receive attention and that officials must remain responsive to people seeking government intervention.
He also stressed that eligible citizens should not be left out of welfare programmes. Officials were directed to ensure that people entitled to government schemes receive their benefits without unnecessary delays.
Strict Action Against Illegal Land Occupation
Land-related complaints also featured during the public hearing. Adityanath directed officials to take strict action against land mafias and influential individuals accused of illegally occupying property.
He instructed the concerned authorities to examine such complaints and take appropriate action in accordance with the law. The direction was part of his broader instructions to officials on resolving revenue and law-and-order matters.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the government was committed to addressing the genuine problems of people who approach it for assistance.
CM Interacts with Children at Janta Darshan
During the public hearing, Adityanath also spent time interacting with children who had accompanied their parents. He asked them about their well-being, education and interests.
The Chief Minister encouraged the children to remain dedicated to their studies while also taking part in activities such as sports, music and art. His interaction with them was part of the public engagement during the Janta Darshan, where residents from different districts came forward with their concerns.
The hearing brought together complaints ranging from policing and land disputes to welfare and other administrative matters, with the Chief Minister directing officials to ensure that cases requiring government intervention are handled promptly.
