Nitin Nabin Predicts Modi’s Return in 2029, Targets Rahul Gandhi at BJP Rally in Delhi
BJP president Nitin Nabin on Thursday predicted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would return to power after the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, saying he would hoist the national flag at the Red Fort again. Addressing a BJP march in Delhi, Nabin sharply criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his campaign against alleged electoral irregularities and accused the opposition party of undermining democratic institutions.

The rally, held under the slogan “Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao” (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy), was organised in response to the opposition’s allegations of “vote chori”. Nabin defended the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, arguing that voter lists should be corrected while ensuring that every eligible Indian retains the right to vote.

Nabin Launches Sharp Attack on Rahul Gandhi

Speaking to BJP workers in the Chandni Chowk area, Nabin claimed that the Congress would continue to lose political ground under Gandhi’s leadership. He said the BJP remained confident of retaining power under Modi in 2029.

“We want Rahul Gandhi to continue leading the Congress the way he is doing now,” Nabin said, predicting that the party would face further decline if it continued on its current path.

He also accused Gandhi of questioning democratic institutions without offering what he described as a constructive alternative. Nabin argued that public confidence in Modi remained strong and presented the BJP as committed to political stability.

These remarks formed the central message of the rally, which sought to counter the opposition’s continuing campaign over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls.

Voter List Revision Becomes a Key Point of Dispute

Nabin’s criticism focused heavily on Gandhi’s objections to the Election Commission’s functioning and the SIR exercise. He alleged that the Congress wanted electoral rolls to retain questionable entries for political advantage, a charge the opposition’s campaign disputes.

The BJP president referred to voters whose addresses or whereabouts could not be verified and questioned why Gandhi was raising concerns about such entries. He also used the issue to target the opposition over alleged illegal immigration.

Nabin said electoral rolls should be cleaned up while ensuring that every eligible Indian voter is included. He added that BJP workers were prepared to campaign for the removal of names they considered ineligible.

The dispute over voter verification has become a point of political confrontation, with the BJP defending the revision process and the opposition raising concerns about possible wrongful deletions and electoral fairness.

Congress Accused of Misusing the Constitution

Nabin also questioned Gandhi’s repeated references to democracy and the Constitution, accusing the Congress leadership of failing to uphold the principles it publicly invokes.

In a personal attack on the party’s leadership, he used the phrase “Italian Congress” and claimed that the organisation had become too dependent on the Gandhi family. He warned that the Congress could face further decline if it continued to follow Gandhi’s leadership.

The Congress has consistently challenged the BJP on questions concerning democratic institutions and electoral processes, making these issues a major source of political friction between the two parties.

BJP Leaders Lead March Through Chandni Chowk

Nabin led the march from the Jain Lal Temple to Town Hall Chowk in Chandni Chowk, accompanied by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra and a large number of party workers.

The procession was organised to reinforce the BJP’s response to the opposition’s “vote chori” campaign and defend the government’s position on electoral roll revision.

Nabin also targeted the Aam Aadmi Party, describing it as an “anarchic party”. He claimed the BJP had already pushed AAP out of power in Delhi under Gupta’s leadership and predicted further political setbacks for the party.

The rally combined the BJP’s defence of the electoral revision process with attacks on both the Congress and AAP, as the party sought to challenge the opposition’s narrative on democracy and voter rights.
