Nabin described Ansari’s comments as a serious statement and asked whether Rahul Gandhi’s failure to respond amounted to tacit approval. The BJP chief also alleged that the remarks pointed towards an attempt to create political instability, demanding an explanation from the Congress leader.
Nabin Asks Whether Rahul Gandhi Approved Ansari’s Remarks
In a post on X on Friday, Nabin directly addressed Rahul Gandhi, alleging that a minister from his party in Jharkhand was speaking about creating instability in the country under his leadership.
“Rahul Gandhi ji, a minister from your party in Jharkhand is openly declaring that the Congress is ready to create instability in the country at your behest and plunge India into the fire of anarchy. What does your silence on this grave statement signify, after all? Is it your tacit approval?” Nabin wrote.
The BJP president went further, questioning whether Rahul Gandhi was directing what he described as a conspiracy to destabilise the country. He also asked whether the Congress leader, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, was controlling the alleged plan.
Nabin said the country expected answers from Rahul Gandhi and argued that his silence was raising further questions about the Congress party’s position.
What Did Irfan Ansari Say?
The BJP leader’s criticism followed remarks made by Irfan Ansari a day earlier. The Jamtara MLA said dissatisfaction with the BJP-led government at the Centre was growing among young people, farmers and minority communities.
Ansari claimed that around 40 lakh youths and students were protesting across the country. He also said Rahul Gandhi was holding them back from taking their agitation further.
“From youths and farmers to minorities, everyone is troubled by the regime at the Centre. If the Prime Minister does not become alert, the country’s situation will turn worse than that of Bangladesh and Nepal. They are waiting for just one command. They will not go beyond what Rahul Gandhi says. Rahul Gandhi is holding these young people back,” Ansari said.
Bangladesh and Nepal References Become Part of Political Debate
Ansari’s comments referred to youth- and student-led protests in Bangladesh and Nepal that resulted in the collapse of governments in both neighbouring countries. Opposition leaders have frequently cited these developments while criticising the Modi government and warning about public discontent in India.
The remarks have now triggered a fresh exchange between the BJP and Congress, with Nabin seeking Rahul Gandhi’s response and questioning the Congress leadership’s position.
NEET-UG Paper Leak Protests Also in Political Context
The controversy comes against the backdrop of earlier student protests over the NEET-UG paper leak. Demonstrations took place in July, putting pressure on the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and leading to the resignation of then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, according to the supplied account.
The latest exchange has once again brought student protests, public dissatisfaction and political accountability into the spotlight, with the BJP and Congress taking opposing positions on the issue.
