RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat arrived in Kanpur early Thursday morning for a day-long visit, drawing significant attention from local administration and Sangh workers. His visit, though brief, is expected to bring together several prominent political leaders, social figures, and members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh fraternity.
Bhagwat reached Kanpur Central Railway Station around 5 a.m. aboard the Dibrugarh–New Delhi Rajdhani Express. Security arrangements were tightened across the station and key locations in the city ahead of his arrival. Given his Z-plus security cover, officials from the local police, district administration, Government Railway Police (GRP), and Railway Protection Force (RPF) coordinated extensively to ensure smooth movement from the station to his destination.
The RSS chief is scheduled to remain in the city for nearly eleven hours. The primary purpose of his visit is to attend a wedding blessing ceremony associated with a family that has long-standing ties with the Sangh. The event is linked to the family of the late Virendrajeet Singh, a respected former regional RSS leader. Bhagwat will participate in the ceremony and extend his blessings to the newly married couple.
The gathering is expected to attract several influential personalities from different sectors. Senior leaders from the Sangh Parivar, public representatives, business community members, and social activists are likely to be present. The event is also expected to witness participation from key members of the Uttar Pradesh government.
According to officials familiar with the schedule, state ministers including Bhupendra Chaudhary, Yogendra Upadhyay, and Suresh Khanna are expected to attend the ceremony.
Authorities had begun preparations a day earlier. Security personnel were deployed at the railway station, entry and exit points, and other sensitive locations across the city. Surveillance and crowd-management measures were also strengthened to avoid any disruption during the visit.
While the visit is centered around a private family function, Bhagwat’s presence in Kanpur has generated considerable interest among RSS volunteers and local residents. His engagements often draw attention due to his role in guiding the organisation’s social and cultural outreach activities across the country.
The visit is expected to conclude later in the evening after he completes his scheduled engagements in the city.
