Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat arrived in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol district on Wednesday to participate in a key organisational training programme aimed at strengthening the Sangh’s grassroots leadership network. His visit has drawn significant attention in the region, with extensive security arrangements put in place around the venue.
Bhagwat reached Shahdol by road from Katni and headed directly to the Saraswati Shishu Mandir campus in the Pandavnagar area, where the RSS is conducting its ‘Karyakarta Vikas Varg Pratham’ camp. The programme, which began on May 19, is focused on ideological orientation, leadership development and organisational training for selected volunteers.
According to RSS functionaries, around 383 swayamsevaks from different regions, including Madhya Pradesh, Malwa, Madhya Bharat, Mahakaushal and Chhattisgarh, are participating in the camp. Bhagwat is expected to interact closely with volunteers during his stay and deliver a series of intellectual and motivational sessions over the next two days.
The training camp is considered one of the RSS’s important internal exercises where workers are groomed for larger organisational responsibilities. Senior Sangh leaders believe such programmes help strengthen coordination at the grassroots level and prepare volunteers for social outreach initiatives across states.
Security has been tightened considerably in Shahdol due to Bhagwat’s visit. CISF personnel and local police forces have been deployed around the training venue, while entry has been restricted to authorised pass holders only. District authorities have also imposed temporary restrictions in the surrounding area to ensure smooth conduct of the programme.
Officials said Shahdol Collector Kedar Singh has enforced prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita from May 20 to May 22. The administration has banned the use of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles near the venue during this period as a precautionary measure.
Bhagwat is likely to remain in Shahdol till May 22 before concluding his visit. The RSS leadership has been regularly organising such training sessions across different parts of the country as part of its ongoing cadre-building efforts.
