RSS Centenary Year Calls for Fresh Resolve and Stronger Commitment to Nation-Building: Mohan Bhagwat

As the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) marks 100 years since its founding, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has called upon volunteers to view the centenary year not merely as a milestone of achievement but as an opportunity to renew their dedication towards national service and social transformation.

Addressing swayamsevaks during a Karyakarta Vikas Varg in Bihar’s Munger district, Bhagwat emphasized that the centenary year should inspire a deeper commitment to strengthening society and contributing to India’s long-term development. His remarks came during a four-day visit to the state, where hundreds of volunteers from different parts of the country gathered for training and organizational discussions.

The event, held at Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Puraniganj, focused on leadership development, character building, and the role of volunteers in addressing contemporary social challenges. Speaking during the intellectual session, Bhagwat reiterated that the RSS was founded with the objective of creating an organized, disciplined, and nation-conscious society that places national interest above individual considerations.

He underlined that slogans such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” represent more than patriotic expression. According to him, they symbolize a sense of duty, responsibility, and commitment towards the nation. Bhagwat said the organization has consistently worked to nurture these values since its establishment in 1925.

Reflecting on the RSS journey over the past century, the Sarsanghchalak noted that character-building remains at the core of nation-building. He explained that the RSS shakha system is not limited to physical activities or drills but serves as a platform for developing discipline, leadership qualities, social harmony, patriotism, and a spirit of selfless service.

Bhagwat also stressed the importance of preparing future generations to take active roles in society. He said the challenges facing the nation require citizens who are socially aware, united, and committed to constructive action. The centenary year, he added, provides an opportunity to expand outreach efforts and strengthen grassroots engagement across communities.

Apart from attending the training programme, Bhagwat met saint Swami Satyaprakash Maharaj at the Maharshi Mehi Ashram in Kuppaghat. He also interacted with senior RSS functionaries involved in organizational work and shared memories from earlier years of service within the Sangh.

The Munger visit is being viewed as significant from an organizational perspective, especially as the RSS enters its centenary year with a renewed focus on social initiatives, leadership development, and national integration. Through its training camps and outreach programmes, the organization aims to prepare volunteers for a larger role in community service and nation-building in the years ahead.
