PM Modi Invites UAE President to BRICS Summit as India-UAE Ties Continue to Deepen

Modi, Sheikh Mohamed Hold Key Talks on Trade, Security and Regional Stability

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday invited UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to attend the BRICS Summit that India will host later this year, underscoring the growing strategic partnership between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi.

The invitation came during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France. The discussions reflected the increasingly close engagement between the two leaders, who have now met three times in 2026, highlighting the importance both countries place on strengthening cooperation across a range of sectors.

During the meeting, Modi and Sheikh Mohamed reviewed progress made under the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The leaders discussed ongoing collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, technology, energy, infrastructure, and defence, while assessing the outcomes of their recent high-level exchanges.

The talks built upon Sheikh Mohamed’s visit to India in January and Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the UAE in May, both of which focused on expanding economic and strategic cooperation between the two nations.

Beyond bilateral relations, the leaders exchanged views on key regional and global developments. With tensions continuing in parts of West Asia, both sides emphasised the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in resolving conflicts and maintaining regional stability.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s support for peaceful solutions based on respect for international law, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He stressed that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through constructive engagement and mutual understanding.

A significant part of the discussion focused on maritime security and the uninterrupted flow of global trade. Both leaders highlighted the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest energy corridors, and agreed on the need to ensure safe and secure navigation through the route.

The meeting once again demonstrated the growing alignment between India and the UAE on economic cooperation, regional security, and global issues, as both countries continue to strengthen one of the most important partnerships in the region.
