RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat to Address Women on Contemporary Motherhood at Delhi, Hyderabad Events

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is set to interact with women from across the country during two upcoming programmes in New Delhi and Hyderabad, where discussions will focus on the evolving role of motherhood in today’s society. The events, organised by the Vishwamangalya Sabha (VMS) later this month, will centre on the theme “Yuganukul Matrutva” (Contemporary Motherhood).

According to the organisers, the programmes aim to encourage meaningful conversations on the challenges faced by modern women, including balancing professional responsibilities with family life, raising children in changing social environments, and adapting to the growing influence of technology. The discussions are also expected to help shape the organisation’s activities and priorities over the next five years.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, VMS National Organising Secretary Vrushali Joshi announced that the North India convention will be held in New Delhi on July 23-24, while the South India gathering is scheduled for Hyderabad on July 25-26.

Bhagwat will deliver a special address and interact with participants on July 24 at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi and again on July 26 in Hyderabad, where women from diverse professional and social backgrounds are expected to take part.

The Delhi event is likely to witness the participation of around 800 to 900 women from northern and eastern states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal. The Hyderabad programme will bring together women from Maharashtra and the southern states.

Joshi said the theme was selected after the organisation conducted discussions with nearly 35,000 women during conventions held across 22 regions last year. The consultations revealed that maintaining a balance between career and motherhood remains one of the biggest concerns among women, particularly those living in nuclear families.

She explained that the organisation has compiled these concerns and that Bhagwat’s interaction will focus on offering a practical and solution-oriented perspective. Rather than limiting discussions to problems, the objective is to encourage society to collectively support mothers and create an environment where they receive greater understanding and respect.

Speaking about the organisation’s vision, Joshi said Vishwamangalya Sabha has been working since its establishment in 2010 to strengthen the role of motherhood within family life. She noted that while women increasingly excel in professional careers, their responsibilities at home remain equally significant.

Joshi added that the organisation believes motherhood deserves greater social recognition. According to her, whether a woman is a doctor, engineer, entrepreneur or civil servant, her role as a mother should be valued with equal importance.

Apart from the public sessions, Bhagwat will also hold closed-door interactions with VMS workers during both the Delhi and Hyderabad meetings to discuss organisational matters and future initiatives.

Responding to questions on children’s growing exposure to smartphones and social media, Joshi said technological progress cannot be reversed and that parents, especially mothers, should instead be equipped to guide children in using technology responsibly. She maintained that creating awareness within society is more effective than seeking government restrictions.

She also confirmed that Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi is expected to attend the Delhi programme, where issues related to motherhood and child development are likely to be discussed.
