By Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged BJP workers to put social service and a “nation first” approach at the centre of their political work as the party reviewed its organisational preparations in Meerut ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. The meeting brought together senior party leaders and grassroots functionaries to assess preparations across booths, Shakti Kendras, Mandals and districts.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin, who is on a two-day visit to western Uttar Pradesh, joined Adityanath for the organisational review and also interacted with party workers. Uttar Pradesh BJP president and Union Minister of State Pankaj Chaudhary was also present at the meeting, which focused on the party’s ground-level preparedness and feedback from workers.
Addressing a conference of Shakti Kendra convenors, Adityanath called on party workers to work for society while keeping national interests as their guiding principle. He said India was witnessing what he described as a “new India” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Referring to Modi’s tenure since 2014, the chief minister said the country had combined economic development with a renewed emphasis on its heritage and cultural identity. He also claimed that India had moved from being among the world’s bottom five economies to the top five.
Nabin, meanwhile, described Meerut as a city associated with India’s revolutionary history. Speaking about Uttar Pradesh’s transformation over the past nine-and-a-half years, he said the state now had an environment of trust and rule of law and was moving ahead on development.
The BJP president also interacted with young people during his visit and described the country’s youth as one of its key strengths. His engagement with young participants formed part of the party’s wider organisational outreach in western Uttar Pradesh.
The review meeting covered the party’s organisational position at multiple levels and included discussions on preparations for the forthcoming elections as well as feedback coming from the grassroots. The emphasis on booth and Shakti Kendra-level coordination reflects the importance of local-level organisation in the party’s election preparations.
Nabin is scheduled to travel to Saharanpur on Monday, where he will meet MPs, MLAs, district-level office-bearers and former office-bearers as part of his continuing visit to western Uttar Pradesh.
